PDR training

Training for people starting out with PDR, technicians developing their skills, and teams from automotive companies. We teach working with the light, tools and the glue-pulling technique, and correctly classifying damage using real cases.

Learning PDR through practice and repeated exercises

PDR is a manual skill. Knowing the tools alone isn't enough if a technician can't correctly read the light lines, find the low point, control the pressure applied, and anticipate how the metal will react. That's why Clevermot's training focuses on practice and building the right habits from the very first exercises.

At the basic level, participants learn to position the reflector, read the deformation pattern, work with rods, control high points, and the fundamentals of the glue-pulling technique. Damage classification is also an important part of the programme - recognising when PDR is the right method, and when attempting a paintless repair could give a worse result.

For people who already have experience, the programme can cover more difficult body lines, working under reinforcements, larger deformations, aluminium panels, hail damage, and combining several techniques. We can also train workshop, dealer and service teams, tailoring the scope to the repairs they encounter most often.

Clevermot has been running PDR training for over 10 years. The programme is built on practice gained from real repairs, not a single rigid script. We work differently with someone starting from scratch, differently with a bodywork technician, and differently with a technician who wants to improve their speed and quality on hail damage.

Process

How we work together

  1. 01

    Establishing the level

Before the training we assess participants' experience, the type of repairs they do, and the expected level of advancement.

  2. 02

    Choosing the programme

We set the balance of theory and practice, the range of techniques, and the type of exercises. The programme can be individual or prepared for a whole team.

  3. 03

    Hands-on sessions

Participants work on panels and cases matched to their level, while the instructor corrects the light position, tool position and repair technique.

  4. 04

    Summary and further development

We discuss the most common mistakes, strengths and areas that need further practice. Participants receive a Clevermot certificate of completion.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about PDR training

Do I need experience to start a PDR course?
Not for the basic training. The programme can start with positioning the light, orienting the tool under the panel, and basic manual exercises.
Is the training mainly practical?
Yes. The theory explains how the metal behaves, the rules for classification and tool selection, but the most important part of the course is the supervised hands-on practice.
Do you run advanced training?
Yes. The scope can cover difficult body lines, working under reinforcements, the glue-pulling technique, aluminium, hail damage and analysing complex cases.
Can training be organised for a whole workshop?
Yes. A company programme can be tailored to the team's level, the type of repairs, and the processes used at that particular service centre.
Do you provide tools for the training?
For the sessions we provide the equipment needed to run the agreed programme. Participants can also work with their own tools and get advice on how to use them.
Does the course end with a certificate?
Yes. Participants receive a Clevermot certificate of completion confirming their participation and the scope of the course.
Can I carry out all PDR repairs right after the course?
You shouldn't assume that. The course organises the technique and helps build the right foundations, but difficult repairs need further practice and repetition.
Can the training take place at the client's site?
This format can be arranged individually, especially for training a workshop or dealer team, if the location allows for the hands-on part to be carried out.
