An opinion before deciding on the repair

The point of an appraisal doesn't have to be the price alone. Often the most important question is whether the panel is worth repairing without repainting, whether a hybrid solution is needed, or whether a classic repair is the right choice. The conclusions help plan the right sequence of work and avoid starting with the wrong technology.

Assessing repair technology based on workshop practice

With bodywork, combining theoretical knowledge with a practical understanding of how metal behaves matters. That's why, during an inspection, we analyse not just the type of damage, but also real tool access, stresses in the panel, the material, and the risk to the paint coating. This matters when classifying for PDR, a hybrid repair, or a classic body-and-paint process.

This kind of assessment is especially useful for unusual damage, where a simple "big or small dent" rule doesn't give a correct answer. Sometimes an extensive deformation can be brought back without repainting, while a small, sharp point on an edge may need a completely different technology.

What can change the classification after a closer inspection

A classification isn't always final after the first look at the outer surface. After dismantling, reinforcements, previous interference, signs of corrosion, additional creases, or damaged structural bonds can come to light. This information can change the recommended repair method.

That's why, in a technical opinion, we clearly separate what can be established at the external inspection stage from conclusions that need wider access. This avoids presenting guesswork as firm findings.
